4 Team Blockbuster
Huge 4 Team Blockbuster Trade
Yesterday we saw one of the largest, if not largest, trades in GSB history between 4 teams and 11 assets moved. The Baltimore Constellation, New York Skyliners, New Orleans Riders, and Motor City Muscle were all a part of a trade that could shape up a large part of how S4 plays out. The Motor City Muscle received SG Derrick Freeman while shipping out a S5 1st via VC and 15 IP. The Skyliners received pick #2 and #15 in the S5 draft from Baltimore while shipping out PG Brennan McGinty, SF Jason Breeze Jr, 65 IP (split up in 3 seasons), and a S6 1st. New Orleans landed PF Thomas LeClaire from Baltimore and PG Brennan McGinty from New York while sending out SG Derrick Freeman, S5 1st via NY and 15 IP as well. The Constellation sent out PF Thomas LeClaire and both S4 1st (#2 and #5) while landing SF Jason Breeze Jr, a total of 95 IP, and 3 future 1st round picks.
Motor City has a down S3 season but look to get back on track this year as they are totally reworking their roster. They traded stars Truck Turner and Petey Wheatstraw to Vice City earlier this offseason for Al Padraza, Shiloh Marino, and the #1 overall pick in this season's draft. They also shipped out Damien Chamber to land a pair of PGs in Robert Ivory and Hunter Jackson. Now they landed a starting SF (who’s a listed SG) for their roster that will be a great addition to the team. A Ivory/Marino/Freeman/Padraze/Bear starting lineup looks very solid for this upcoming season, and if they hit some picks for key depth I think there could be a chance they sneak into the playoffs.
The Skyliners were a small team last year having 4 PGs and a SG last season, and it looks like they are focused on changing that. They shipped out every PG outside of Ant Thomas while picking up the 6’9 SF Damien Chambers and signing C Matt Phillips. NY now has 2 1st round picks they can use to draft two other PF/C to fill out the rest of their frontcourt to add size. After reaching the S1 finals, New York is looking to get back into their contention status.
The Riders have started making some moves this offseason. They have already landed SG Greatest Ever from OceanSide to replace Scooby Lewis. They now add a backup PG in McGinty who was a S1 All-Star and now has been bouncing around the league, and landed a big time defensive PF in LeClaire who should be able to easily replace Eli Simmons. The Riders have been barely missing the playoffs the last two seasons and they are looking to make moves to change that in S4.
After reaching the semi-finals in the S3 playoffs Baltimore has absolutely loaded up with assets to be competitive for seasons to come. With a full roster Baltimore was unable to use either 1st this year and now they have 3 S5 1st and 2 S6 1st giving them a ton of assets for more trades or the opportunity to draft young guys. Getting 95 IP only helps develop this team even faster to help the team's hopes of winning a championship.
