Boston and Virginia Agree to Trade

It didn’t take long at all before the first trade of the offseason happened. The Boston Militia agreed to send shooting guard Dex Matty to the Virginia Merfolk for a S4 3rd round pick and point guard (former owner) Aaron Hughes.

Dex Matty has had a very promising start to his career after being drafted with the 1st pick in the 3rd round of the S2 GSB Draft. Matty finished his rookie season averaging 16.1 points per game, 1.1 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 47% from 3. Matty had very similar stats this season with his scoring dropping to 14.4 points per game, but still very good in the league and it also led Boston. Matty looks to come to Virginia (now in the process of being relocated to Pittsburgh) to give the Merfolk a true go to option on the offense and to create a special guard duo with fellow star rookie point guard Prince Revels who finished 3rd in the ROTY race.

Former Virginia owner, Aaron Hughes, is a S1 player who had a down year in S2 before making a pretty big jump this last season drastically improving his play and career. Hughes averaged 14.6 points per game, 5.8 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game this last season as a Merfolk. Hughes brings some much needed veteran leadership to Boston who has only 2 other S1 players on their roster currently. Hughes will look to team up with Mike Melo in the backcourt to form one of the best defensive back courts in the league as Melo just finished S3 as All-Defensive 2nd team as point guard.
