Ingram III Named S3 MIP
Al Ingram III Named S3 MIP
MIP is an award that shows how much a player truly develops in between seasons and changes the trajectory of their career. This is an award that many players who struggled in the prior season can set their eyes on to show the league and world the talent that their player really possesses.
S3 that happened to be Martians point guard Al Ingram III. As a rookie in S2 Ingram had a very underwhelming season and arguably was a bottom player in the league. The guard averaged 6.2 points per game, 2.8 assists per game, and shot 33% from the floor and 29% from behind the arc in 18.3 minutes per game. The Martians struggled as a team in general that season, and the play of Ingram during S2 definitely did not help them.
However, S3 Ingram would change EVERYTHING on the way the league and fans viewed him as a player. Ingram hit a complete 180 degree turn on his production and efficiency as he scored 20.4 points per game, dished out 5.8 assists per game, and shot 55% from the floor and 51% from 3. Ingram also averaged 1.4 steals per game on the defensive end which was an improvement from 0.4 as a rookie. The Martians also improved drastically as a team winning 10 games and playing in the semi-finals of the playoffs, showing how much Ingrams increase of production improved this team's success.
Ingram also ended S3 with awards such as S3 ASG Captain and S3 All-GSB 3rd Team PG, also finishing in the top 5 in MVP votes. For any player that may have had a very underwhelming season to their standards, they now have Ingram’s career to look up to for motivation to flip their career around. Ingram has shown the league he is a star and I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes on to win many more awards and leads the Martians to a few finals appearances.
