Michigan Trade Rumors

Michigan Stars on Trade Block

The Michigan Killer Beez are in an obvious rebuilding state after having a very successful 2 seasons in the league before going 2-12 in S3. The team saw a pretty hefty overhaul in the offseason watching Tim Riggins leave in FA, trading Jack Lawson and Ernesto Romero to Baltimore, trading Slimmer Puffenstuff to Portland, and eventually trading both Greg Lake and Brennan McGinty during the S3 regular season. The only 2 original members of the team have been Truck Turner and Petey Wheatstraw, and it doesn't seem like they will be staying on the team much longer.

Truck Turner arguably has the best resume of any GSB player and could be considered the GSB goat at this very moment. Turner won the S1 MVP after finishing second in points per game, top 5 in assists per game, and led the league in steals per game as well. Turner also won DPOY in S2 thanks to averaging a whooping 3.9 steals per game. During the first 2 seasons Turner was also a 2x All-Star, 2x All-GSB 1st team, and 2x All-GSB Defensive 1st team while being the S2 Cover Athlete. Even in Michigan’s down year this past season the PG averaged 15.4 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 3.9 assists per game. Truck still has the ability to be a top player in the league and help a contender make a push for a championship next season so it’s not surprising he wants to be put in a winning position instead of a rebuilding state. Any team that wants to land Truck will likely need to pay a high price, but the reward of his production will be more than worth it.

The other star on the block is forward Petey Wheatstraw. Wheatstraw was part of the Killer Beez “Big 3” with Truck and Riggins during the first 2 seasons of the league. Wheatstraw put up almost 11 points per game during each of the first 2 seasons which was second amongst PF’s each of those seasons only behind Eli Simmons as Wheatstraw was named an All-Star both of them seasons. Wheatstraw put up 12.8 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game, and 2.2 steals/blocks per game in S3 showing he’s still an elite PF in the league. Wheatstraw may not be as pricey as Truck and with PF being a thin position in the league I can see there being a huge market for the Killer Bee power forward.
