Prospect Interview: Angelo Roman

by Daniel Jarris

Angelo Roman, the formidable center anchoring the Buffalo Tech Blizzard, stands as a highly touted prospect for the imminent GSB S3 draft. His remarkable contributions on the court have been pivotal in steering his team's success. Averaging an impressive 15.4 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while maintaining a remarkable 72% shooting accuracy, Roman's multifaceted abilities are a testament to his skill and dedication.

The Blizzard's journey to the GSB Prospect Tournament finals was a testament to their resilience. Despite initial setbacks against the Tulsa A&M Wolf Pups in the bracket stage, they demonstrated unwavering determination by battling through the losers bracket and securing a rematch against their formidable rivals. This feat highlights not only Roman's prowess but also the team's resilience and ability to overcome challenges.

As Roman's draft projection looms near the top, his consistent performance and invaluable contributions to the Buffalo Tech Blizzard position him as a coveted prospect and a potential game-changer in the upcoming GSB S3 season. NNN reporter Daniel Jarris had a chance to sit down with Roman ahead of the GSB draft to get to know him better and to get his thoughts on his experience in the Prospect Tournament.

Daniel Jarris: Angelo, first I would like to thank you for taking the opportunity to sit down with me. I’m sure you’re very busy ahead of the S3 GSB Draft. Are you excited for the upcoming draft?

Angelo Roman: Yessir, I’m very excited for this next chapter in my time at GSB.

Jarris: With some news outlets giving you a projected top 3 pick status in the upcoming draft, what specific skills or attributes do you believe make you stand out as a center and potentially a game-changer at the professional level?

Roman: I think my defense and rebounding are some things that I feel would translate to the next level.

Jarris: Another player that is projected to go within the top 3 is Grave Digga. Considering your many battles on the court with him, in particular in the prospect league finals where Digga and the Wolf Pups came out victorious over Buffalo Tech, it seems like you two have developed somewhat of a rivalry. What do you think of Digga as a player, and considering you two play the same position, what sets you apart from him?

Roman: Digga is a great player as well. I do think he’s a better offensive player, but I do think I’m the better defensive player. Rebounding wise we are on par with each other.

Jarris: Can you share any particular experiences or lessons from the prospect tournament, especially from the finals, that you feel will significantly contribute to your development as a player moving forward?

Roman: Losing that last prospects game hurts a lot. Something I needed to add motivation.

Jarris: Lastly, is there any particular GSB team that you’re hoping to be drafted by? And to any organization potentially looking to draft you, do you have any words you’d like to say to them?

Roman: I’ll play for whoever wants me. And I’m ready to get to work!
