Stars Retiring From GSB
This week we have seen a number of players retire from GSB. 2 of those players happened to be Dan Glisack and Slimer Puffenstuff.
Glisack was an Oakland Otter all 3 seasons in the league and helped them win a championship during S2. The center was one of very few GSB players to be named an all-star all 3 seasons while in the league, and is arguably the best center in league history to date. Glisacks career averages in 3 seasons is around 8ppg and 8 rpg showing he can be a near double-double threat each night on the floor. He’s also averaged around 1.5 bpg proving to be an elite rim protector for the Otters during his career. Glisack will be heavily missed in Oakland, but the Otters have been developing Skyler Stevens behind him for 2 seasons now hoping that Glisack’s mentorship pays off.
S1 DPOTY Slimer Puffenstuff came into the league known as the best defender in the league. The SG was drafted to the Michigan Killer Beez after showcasing great defensive skills in the prospect showcase, and continued to be their lockdown defender starting majority of the time. Puff spent his last season in Portland being traded for cap reasons, and totally transformed his game to a playmaker. He ended his 3 year career averaging around 10 ppg, 2 rpg, 4 apg, and 1 spg (over 2 spg S1). He was also a 42% 3pt shooter showing he made that 3&D label come true. Puffenstuff was also a 1x all-star (S1) and the league’s 1st ever 3pt contest champion.
Other notable names that retired are Jason Bourne, Almedin Colakovic, Braden Hartjes, Messiah Richie, and S2 #1 draft pick Milton-Francis Heinkel. While these names and players will be incredibly missed, we appreciate the time we got to see them compete and help develop the GSB. One day we hope these players will come out of retirement and continue to shine a light for this league.
